Elle walked into Tiffany's with her mind set on one thing: A birthday present for Kiran. Elle loved choice items but the actual Tiffany store wasn't her scene. She'd rather be in Soho at Georg Jensen but she knew that Kiran was 13 and they loved Tiffany's. She walked into her once favorite store and smiled at the familiarity. She hadn't been there for almost two months and that was only because she was dragged there by her friends. Elle walked around the store letting her eyes linger on certain sections then she saw it. It was sitting in the case and Elle knew immediatly that Kiran would love it. It was a silver Dragonfly pendant with diamonds on it's wings. It was strung on a sixteen inch chain. She looked at the price tag. It read $1,050. Elle started to wonder if this necklace was worth it. Kiran had been nice to her lately. Elle asked for it quickly before she could change her mind. Even though Elle had ridiculous amounts of money she still felt bad when she spent alot of money on one thing. She was about to pay for the item when she heard a very familiar voice behind her.

Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend Nicole strolled along Fifth Avenue. She promised herself she was just indow shopping. Especially after her latest purchase of a limited edition Valentino satchel. She couldn't even bear to think about how much she had spent which was why she was punishing herself by looking at things she wasn't allowed to buy. Alt least that was the excuse she told herself as she entered the large stone building, filled with two things, people and jewelry.
As she wandered around the first floor where all te good items were she suddenyl spotted a farmiliar head of dark brown hair. It can't be Nicole thought to herself. Her raven haired friend wouldn't be caught dead in Tiffany & Co. But as the girl turned around, Nicole caught sight of the distinct eastern European features that belonged to Elle.
"Hey babe" Nicole cooed walking up to Elle. "I was like, nooo...that's not Elle, but it is you. What are you doing here?"

"Kiran's b-day." she sai non chalantly. She embraced her friend. "What are you doing here?" she said raising a perfctly plucked eyebrow. "After that escapade with the Valentino I was sure you' be banned from shopping for a millenium."She checkked out the item and began to stroll around the store admiring random things. "Have you seen the hotties? Micheal is looking pretty good. He's a complete man-whore though."

Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend Nicole smiled at her friend's comment. "How very observant of you, but I'm being a very good daughter and punishing myself. I'm making self restrain as hard as possible." She almost had to laught at herself. She had no formal allowance, but access to a trust fund that her parents just so happened to check regularly.
Nicole thought about Michael. The last timeshe'd ha what could have been called a 'relationsip' with him was in the seventh grade. Since then there had been a lot of flirting, but nothing major. Despite the fact that he treated women like objects, they were good friends and as colse as they were, Nicole actually hadn't thoguht about his look in almost ever. After thinking for a while, conjuring a picture of him in her head, she decided her was actually kind of cute.
"I suppose you're right..." Nicole said. "So if it's Kiran's birthday...I have the most amazing present idea for her, tell me if you think she'll like it. She's like my little sister." Nicole smiled. The Perry's and Maurice's had lived on the grand old island called Manhattan since the early eighteen-hundreds and they had been good friends since then. They were practically family.

Elle snickered at Nicole's punishing herself. Punishing to her was like oly buying 1 pair of earrings instead of five."I'm glad I don't have to play big sis by myself. What do you plan to get her?" she smiled at her own friend. Even thought they were opposites they were best friends. "Are you going to spend the night today?" she asked happily. She wanted company. She looked around and said "I'm bored looking at diamonds are making my eyes hurt." Elle pulled open her black Chloe bag and pulled out her favorite tube of MAC lipglass. It was tinted a slight shade of pink. "Glamorous." she said and striked a dramatic pose with a peace sign. Being a manhattanite no one dared say anything let alone look appalled. They did what they wanted, how they wanted it and most importantly when.

Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend "Yes, you are so glamorous. Expecially among these diamonds. Now give me fierce...tiger!" Nicole yelled, giving cheesy model intructions. She knew that she ended up sounding a lot like the wannabe Patrick Demarchelier photographer who had convinced Elle and Nicole that they were to be his muses while they were vacationing in St. Barts. he had put them out on the beach in designer swimsuits and made them do ridiculous poses. What was his name? Ronald? Ralph? Something like that.
"There it is." Nicole said pointing to the delicate gold necklace. It was marine themed with a starfish, octupus, lobster, seahorse, and crab. Each embedded with two small diamonds. She knew Kiran loved the sea, and all things girly, fortunately this was both. "Isn't it perfect?" she asked.
"I am absolutely going to sleep ober tonight. My dad managed to get an advanced screening of the new Brad Pitt movie. I was thinking we could watch it. And I am totally craving some of Lupe's popcorn." Nicole said, referring to the homestlye with a touch of butter popcorn that Elle's cook made.

Elle striked poses and made funny faces. They were having so much fun and she almost didn't notice when Nicole showed her Kiran's gift. It was beautiful and the diamonds were exquisite. She gasped and she said "Gorgeous. She'll love it and then hate me because mine only has a dragonfly on it. Thanks." she said adding sarcasm to the last part. When she heard about Nicole's plan for a sleepover she was overjoyed. Lupe, the cook was straight from Mexico and had learned to speak English a couple years back. Nicole only thought it was butter but Elle knew better. She had snuck into the kitchen one of their movie nights and found that she added some mexican chili stuff. It made it all the more unique. "The Brad Pitt movie sounds good even though he was cute when we were like 10." She giggled. She had known Nicole since the beginning of time and the spent so much time together you'd think they were sisters. "So what look will we make famous at school this year?" she asked while Nicole payed for the necklace. Elle and Nicole had a circle of friends and they all loved eachother to bits. They were always hanging out. They were reffered to as "Those Girls." They had gotten that name because everyone wanted to be them.

Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend "Hmm... Nicole tapped a long finger against her chin. "I'm sure I have no idea, but maybe vintage or something. I was looking as some of Warhol's work and I learned about Edie Sedgwick, you know his muse? And I swear, she wore the best clothes. But I'm up for anything." She purposely left out the part about how totally drugged Edie was and the fact that she was completely depressed.
Nicole liked to imagine people at their best and then try to emmulate them. In her mind, Edie was a gorgeous, stylish, thin muse with all the money and connections in the world. She was a model who had rockstars after her and lived a perfect life, them mysteriously died at twenty-eight years old of esome glamorous, exotic disease. In Nicole's mind Edie wasn't annorexic or nearly bankrupt, and she ceartainly didn't die of a drug overdose.
"Did you have anything in mind?" Nicole asked. "I fully adore that gold brocade skirt I just so happened to notice in your closet." She said, mentioning the perfect-for-fall skirt that she would undoubtedly steal at one point or another.

"Edie Sedgwick was gorgeous. I would so want to be here if I wasn't me. Even if she was depressed and crazy." to Nicole, Edie Sedgwick was like Blair Waldorf's Audrey Hepburn. Only difference is that Edie was edgy, and Audrey was just pretty. Nothing against Audrey but Edie was a muse.
Elle smiled at the mention of her skirt. She'd bought it in Brooklyn but she would tell Nicole later. She wouldn't want to ruin the look on her face when she tried it on and Elle told her where she bought it. It would be priceless. She'd found it at a really ah-do-rable vintage shop that even Soho's best would be envious of. Buttons(made up) was the cutest store and it had everything. Not to mention reasonable pricing.
"I was thinking about emulating alot of French Fashion Week. I just love Lutz's collection. He is my new favorite. Did you see the new things at Chloe? They are a little japanese harajuku wuth all those cute characters but it is tres adorable. Chloe is outrageouly pricey though. $200 for a frickin blue bandeau swimsuit that puts the ew in ewww." She hated when designers sold ugly things for outrageous prices.

Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend "Ooh, I did see the Chloe show. It was tres adorable!" Nicole said advancing towards the side of the counter where the woman was ringing up the nacklace. "ohmigod, are you talking about the swimsuit in look twelve? It was gross. It's like, okay, a swimsuit can cost that much, but not when it looks worse than plumbers tape." She exclimed, finishing with a dramatic sigh.
"Seriously though Elle, this year has to be the best. It's our last year in...I mean, now we're seniors and we have to make everyone adore us." Nicole said. She knew that they were already adored by everyone, but she anted to make an especially big impression on the school, and who knew? The entire island of manhattan perhaps.

"Of course. You know Kiran will be there as at our school in like almost two years. Maybe she'll start her own thing and keep the legacy alive." Elle was still very hesitant toward the C word. It wasn't very pleasant to think about leaving all that she knew and loved behind.Elle came back to the present and smiled "We have to make sure that they remember us as Those Girls. We have to have the hottest parties and wear the most impossible to get stuff. I was thinking this year we'd do it in a loft in Tribec or something. Lofts are totally vintage and how many kids have parties there? They think that just because last year we had all the parties at our townhouses that we'll continue. We have to shake it up and keep our followers on their toes. I declare that Those Girls are officially Those Vintage Girls." Elle snickered. "Let's get out of here I am going to die if I smell anymore of that eau de toilette stuff that old ladies wear." She linked arms with Nicole and together they went to take 5th ave. by storm.
